If Tom Robinson didn’t try to run out of prison he would have been shoot. And if he didn’t get shoot he would have most likely been there for his second appearance in court which, I would like to believe, not been convicted.  Which means he would be able to go back home to his wife, Helen, and his kids. He would be able to go back working on Link Deas cotton fields.

Questions to Tom Robinson:

1.       Can you read and write?
2.      If so can you do so for us?
3.      Are you left or right handed?
4.      Have you talked or associated with Mayella Ewell before?
5.      How long have you been a crippled?
6.      Have you been charged of something like this before?
7.      Has Mayella Ewell ever showed affection towards you?
Explanation why: I would ask Tom these questions to prove that he is physically not capable of beating her on her right side if his left hand is crippled. And I would ask the other question to gey the judge thinking of a possibility that Mayalla might like him.

 Questions to Heck Tate:
1.       When you came to the house where was Mayella Ewell and Mr. Ewell?
2.      Did you at any point check Mr. Ewell for any alcohol?
3.      If so, how much and is that about enough to impale his thinking or his memory of that day?
Explanation why: I would ask Mr. Tate these question so I can get the judge thinking about Mr. Ewell might have been intoxicated and he might not have remembered things as well.

The dictionary definition of courage is: “The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery”. But to me the definition of courage is a lot more complex. In a way courage is a motivation to do the right thing no matter what others think about that action. I think the person with the most courage is Atticus. I think that because he is defending Tom Robinson. Now a day defending an African American is just as important as anyone else but back when this book was set, it was not “ok” if a white lawyer defended an African American. Atticus have a lot of courage to do that and have to deal with all the things that people say to him and his kids.

The 1930’s were very different from modern day. Back then there were no video games and phones like now a day.  Kids and teen usually played board games or went to the movies. At the time movies where the hottest thing.  But watching movies was mostly accessible to the rich that’s because during the 1930-40 The Great Depression hit the United States. During The Great Depression money was very scares.  American family’s income was reduced by 40%. The average income for an American family was around $1,368.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the president in 1920-33. At the time the population on the United States was 123,188,000. Back then medicines weren’t as well as they are now a day so the lifespan was much shorter then it is now. A male’s lifespan was 58 years while a female’s lifespan was around 61.
